Skirlie is a savory Scottish side dish served along side potatoes, stuffed inside chickens/turkeys, and a popular Christmas dish. 


  • 1 cup Steel Cut Oats (Regular or Gluten Free)
  • 2 cups Vegetable Broth
  • 1-2 Tbsp Canola Oil
  • 1/2 cup YUMYIN
  • 1 tsp each: fresh Thyme leaves, Rosemary (chopped), Sage (chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • Freshly ground black pepper


  1.  Bring vegetable broth and oats in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and stir regularly.  Cook for at least 20 minutes to reduce the liquid, longer if desired.
  2. Cook oil and garlic in a seperate pan on low.

  3. Once garlic begins to brown add YUMYIN.  Add herbs and cook for 3-5 more minutes. Remove from heat.

  4. Add the YUMYIN mixture to oats and stir to combine. Add freshly ground pepper to taste and serve.
